MUSIC
Frensham has a rich history of musical excellence and the team of Music staff and tutors is committed to ensuring
students are supported in the pursuit of their musical studies. There are ample practice rooms in the Glenn Music
Centre, each equipped with quality pianos. One room features a harpsichord and there are several grand pianos on
campus.
In Clubbe Hall opposite Glenn, the orchestra and choirs rehearse in a modern orchestral rehearsal room, whilst having
access to a professional theatre complex. Students of contemporary rock instruments also have access to drum kits,
acoustic and electric guitars as well as electric keyboards and bass instrumentation, in a separate studio.
Music technology is an important part of the contemporary musician’s repertoire composing and arranging software
includes Sibelius, CuBase, Micro Logic and Finale. There is also a mini disk recording facility, numerous digital pianos
and a fully computerized music laboratory.
Singing in choirs, at school services and in the school musicals is an integral part of life at Frensham. Auditions for the
Junior, Senior and Madrigal Choir are held at various stages throughout the year. The Madrigals is a smaller select
chamber group that often performs at offi cial functions, concerts and weddings.
Students can study from a wide range of orchestral and contemporary instruments. Frensham’s instrumental
students are expected to contribute to instrumental ensembles.
From 2007 the additional opportunity exists for musicians to gain performance coaching by Ms Sabine Madden.
