EDUCATION – CURRICULUM CAMPS
Outdoor
Education at Frensham reflects a sequence of progressive
outdoor “immersion” experiences linked to a
cross-section of KLA curriculum outcomes.
The
Outdoor Education Program Goals aim to:
| • |
provide
opportunities for adventure as well physical and emotional
challenges that help students to know themselves and
their potential, and therefore increase their self confidence; |
| • |
develop
the student's aesthetic appreciation and spiritual perceptions
in relation to the natural world; |
| • |
provide
opportunities for the development of leadership skills; |
| • |
develop
a responsibility to and understanding of the natural
environment and our relationship to it; |
| • |
provide
opportunities for the develop of an historical and geographical
awareness of the world around us. |
In order
to achieve these goals a curriculum for each year level
has been developed in conjunction with the Outdoor Education
Group (OEG). This curriculum has links to identified KLA
outcomes which are enacted before, during and after the
“immersion” phase of the programme.
