TECHNOLOGY
Frensham has an enviable array of technological resources available for staff and students, in keeping with our strong commitment to the preparation of students to be confident, competent and critical users of 21st century technologies.
In addition to the Schavemaker Centre which houses a computer laboratory and research laboratory, computer facilities are provided in the West Wing Laboratories, the Library, the Music Centre, classrooms and in the Boarding Houses. Wireless access is available throughout the School.
- There are two Computer Laboratories both occupying two adjoining classrooms to allow whole class, small group and private study usage simultaneously
- Fast access to the Internet is available from every computer
- The Library offers both wireless network connection and a cabled network of PCs that provide students with access to the library catalogue, reference CDs and the Internet
- In each of the Boarding Houses, computers are linked to the school computer system for out-of-hours study
- All students have individual computer access to support evening Prep
- Music theory and composition are supported by a keyboard laboratory, with appropriate software including Sibelius and Cubasis
- Every classroom is fitted with an interactive whiteboard or data projector to increase teacher and student access to visually-rich material to support learning.
- Professional standard video editing software and digital video cameras are used to create and analyse film texts
- Students work with the full version of Photoshop to edit graphics and learn about design
- Tools such as high quality colour printers, data loggers and flatbed scanners are readily available to students to enhance their work
- Multimedia and interactive web technologies are used to support learning
