| THE
SCHAVEMAKER CENTRE FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
"It
is vital that we, as a nation, build upon our science and
technological capabilities and embrace new ways of thinking.
Scientifically literate citizens are better equipped to
understand change, apply innovative thinking and problem
solving skills in their work lives and be aware of health
and environmental issues of relevance to their personal
lives."
Ms J Gillick - Head of Frensham
The
Schavemaker Centre for Science and Technology is a state-of-the-art
facility, opened in October 2003.
Built at a cost of over $3 million, the new centre comprises:
• three science laboratories;
•
a research laboratory;
•
an information technology centre; with a mezzanine
floor for
senior
study.
More than 60 computers have been installed and there is
ample provision for personal laptop use.
Light and spacious, the centre has been built to complement
Clubbe Hall and to expand the area between the two buildings,
a focal point for gatherings of parents and students on
school occasions.
