Gratitude – thoughts shared at the end of term

Gratitude – thoughts shared at the end of term

Gratitude – thoughts shared at the end of term with students - to carry into the vacation:

‘Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.’ [William Arthur Ward]

‘The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you.’ [John E Southard]

‘Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.’
[A A Milne]

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
[Albert Schweitzer, theologian, organist, philosopher, physician, and medical missionary]

Eckhart von Hochheim, commonly known as Meister Eckhart (German theologian, philosopher and mystic, born near Gotha, in Thuringia in 1259 said: ‘If the only prayer you said was thank you – that would be enough.’

Over the winter break, Frensham and Sturt campuses are in full operation for Weeks 1 and 2 to host to the Braille Music Camp and Sturt Winter School. We also have Gib Gate and Frensham Snowsports teams representing us in Interschools competition and our senior Frensham Netball and Hockey squads in a tournament this weekend in Armidale.

Thank you to parents for your support of our efforts this semester – and our best wishes for a safe, refreshing time with family – at home or in your travels.

Special Acknowledgement

Kumi Taguchi (1993) who offered an inspirational address based on Frensham’s Motto – In Love Serve One Another, as the after-Dinner speaker at Fellowship’s Annual General Meeting: ‘Frensham could have had a number of mottos; I can’t think of a better one – not only for a school – but for a family, a company, a city, a town – or, even further – an Earth where every one of us.... saw our tiny moment here as a chance to be of service. Wouldn’t that be a great place to live?’

There is no doubt that the world has become increasingly fragmented and polarised. In this environment, we need real leadership. So, what values do future leaders need? SERVICE, INTEGRITY, CONTRIBUTION. We need big thinkers. We need confident and self-empowered people to go out into the world and care about those around us – and about the planet we are lucky enough to inhabit....Amongst all that is happening in this fast-paced, changing world, Frensham is inspiring young girls, young women to be thinking of others – serving others. For that I am truly thankful for my time at Frensham.

Kumi Taguchi (1993) with Fellowship President Annette O’Connell and Julie Gillick, Head of Frensham Schools at the Dinner following the Annual General Meeting of Frensham Fellowship
