Learning to Learn through Doing

Learning to Learn through Doing

Years 5 and 6 students participated in a Canberra excursion recently. Students were involved in programmes at Parliament House, Australian National Museum, Arboretum, National Botanical Gardens and Questacon at Night. Teachers reported that several of the venues commented on the exemplary behaviour, engagement and manners of the Gib Gate students.

Years 5 & 6 Canberra excursion

All Gib Gate students from Preschool to Year 6 shared their learning in the Cambridge Global Perspectives Units in Learning walks last week. Parents and Frensham staff joined groups as they visited each classroom. The Cambridge Global Perspectives programme is an interdisciplinary, skills-based course with an emphasis on the development of skills. The programme encourages students to consider and connect personal, national and global perspectives. Gib Gate students enjoyed these immersive units and explained their learning confidently to their groups as they walked around the school.
