Sturt back in swing for spring

Sturt back in swing for spring

WELCOME BACK

Sturt is delighted to welcome back creativity, connection and community as local students return for term classes and from this week, Frensham students once again enjoy ceramics and jewellery at Sturt.

We look forward to visitors from further afield next Monday, just in time to experience our fantastic line up of events, workshops and exhibitions planned for the rest of the year.

Sturt’s 80th anniversary celebrations sadly could not take place on the October long weekend due to COVID lockdown, so instead we are hosting a celebration on Saturday 13 November at 5.30pm. We would love for you to join us and have a glass of bubbles to toast to Sturt’s 80 years as Australia’s oldest design centre. It is also the last weekend of the Sturt – 80 Years in the Making exhibition bringing to life the legends and treasures of Sturt’s permanent collection. If you are vaccinated and would like to join us, book at https://www.trybooking.com/BUYJX to secure your place.

We are excited to share the news that the acclaimed What If Society is bringing its much-loved fresh organic produce stall to Sturt, starting this Saturday 30 October from 10.00am-1.00pm, in the Sturt garden. On the last Saturday of every month you will discover delicious hand-made sourdough, take home meals, fresh vegetables and eggs from the best Highlands producers. Relax at Sturt’s garden café, browse our gorgeous new selection of hand-made gifts in the Sturt Shop, and catch our ‘80 years’ exhibition at the same time - a special way to spend a spring Saturday.

STURT POTTERY LANDSCAPING UNDERWAY

The anagama kiln has been rebuilt thanks to a generous donation from our pottery community and work is now underway to tidy up the back of the pottery, making way for new outdoor sink, paving, garden beds, shade tree and outdoor furniture. New banding wheels and kiln shelves are also ready for action. The work should be finished in time to be enjoyed for summer, and in winter ready for many gatherings around anagama firings.
