UNCOVERING STURT'S TREASURES

80 YEARS IN THE MAKING – In the lead up to Sturt’s 80th birthday in October we have been uncovering more incredible images and treasures of the talented makers who have come to live, work and teach at Sturt over the decades. The gallery is still closed but we are optimistically forging ahead planning our homage to Sturt and hoping that visitors can celebrate with us at some point while it is on. Local photographer Ashley Mackevicius captured these beautiful images of our permanent collection for upcoming 80th birthday feature stories in The Australian Journal of Ceramics and Highlife magazines. Ashley also helped staff enhance and enlarge some of our fantastic archival hero images for the exhibition walls. These images will bring to life the stories of these legendary makers who generously shared their gifts with the people of the Highlands.

LAST WEEKS OF LANDSCAPE WITH ROCK

Tony Ameneiro’s beautiful exhibition is in its last week before it bumps out. It has been very disappointing for Tony who had his exhibition only open for two weeks before lockdown. If you haven’t had a chance to see Tony’s work we encourage you to jump online and experience Tony’s captivating work here – see Tony Ameneiro’s catalogue

SPRING TIDINGS

Unfortunately, our term classes remain paused and most of our Short Course Weekends are being rescheduled to next year.  We had hoped lockdown would lift so we could deliver our wonderful and ever-popular springtime weekend workshops but that is sadly not possible. We are remaining positive and working on our exciting Summer School Programme which will be online by 1 October, along with our fabulous 2022 Short Course Weekends which will also be online soon. You can find out more about our classes and workshops on www.sturt.nsw.edu.au

Outside our office Miss West’s peony is blooming and reminding us that brighter times are ahead. We’re looking forward to lockdown lifting so we can enjoy those times together soon.
