What is The Winifred West Legacy?

Frensham Schools Bequest Programme

The Winifred West Legacy

In recent times, there has been a lot of interest in The Winifred West Legacy. Many people are asking – what is it all about? Below, you will see some of the questions we have been asked, and the answers.

  1. What is The Winifred West Legacy?
It is Foundation’s newly-formed bequest group. Anyone who has made a gift in their Will to Frensham (a bequest) can become a member of this group.

  2. Is our new bequest group only for people who have recently made a gift in their Will? What about people who generously made a bequest to the School in the past?
Our new bequest group includes all those who have made a bequest in the past; as well as those who have recently made a bequest.
Importantly, The Winifred West Legacy acknowledges the long history of bequest gifts to the School; and formalises that by bringing people together as a group.

  3. What is a ‘Custodian’ of The Winifred West Legacy?
We use the term ‘Custodian’ of The Winifred West Legacy for those who have made a gift in their Will to the School—because a Custodian is a person who has responsibility for taking care of, or protecting something.

  4. How do I become a Custodian?
By making a gift in your Will to Frensham and notifying the School of your bequest, you can become a Custodian of The Winifred West Legacy.
Custodians are invited to the annual Winifred West Legacy lunch, where they can re-connect with likeminded friends each year. They also hear from the Head of School, Sarah McGarry, as to what is happening at Frensham Schools today.

  5. Who should I contact if I have further questions?
For further information, please contact Ms Jackie Dalton, Director of Philanthropy at Frensham Schools.
