Minnie Wiggins – Year 12 Boarder

Reflecting on my journey through school, I am filled with a whirlwind of emotional memories— from the nervous excitement of my first day to the challenging homesick days and nights. Yet, my time at Frensham has shaped me in countless ways and provided me with opportunities for which I am incredibly grateful.

My journey as a ‘Frensham Girl’ began even before I arrived. Coming from a long line of Frensham girls and with many close family friends who are part of the community, I already felt a connection to the school. My physical journey, however, began at the start of Year 9 in 2021, when I arrived as an excited girl eager to experience boarding school life.

Over the past few years, I have had my fair share of ups and downs. I have built some of the most meaningful and enduring friendships I could ever hope for, but I’ve also faced challenges, such as struggling with homesickness and tackling subjects that didn’t come naturally to me. However, thanks to the amazing support network around me, I have been able to overcome—and continue to overcome—these hurdles.

Both my teachers and family have played pivotal roles in shaping my school experience. They have been more than educators; they have been mentors, guides, and tireless cheerleaders. They believed in my potential, even when I doubted myself or questioned where I belonged. Their unwavering support has been invaluable, and I will forever be grateful.

I live just outside Narromine, in the Central West. I have three brothers and a menagerie of animals and pets, including many horses, as I am a passionate horse rider. I compete in various events, including camp drafting and stock horse shows. At Frensham, I play the guitar with the guidance of my excellent guitar teacher. My favourite subject is Modern History, closely followed by Visual Arts.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, and some of my favourite books include The Night Circus, Game of Thrones, House of Secrets, and Harry Potter. However, I must admit that I am partial to a bit of nighttime Netflix, especially the TV series Suits.

With just three terms left of Year 12, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences that Frensham has provided. These have shaped me into the person I am today, offering invaluable opportunities and memories that I will treasure forever.
