A place of values and personal growth
A strong sense of community is at the heart of Frensham Schools.
At Frensham Schools, we are dedicated to developing character and empowering young people to thrive. We believe students flourish in a culture that nurtures both intellectual and emotional growth, inspiring them to embrace the rich intellectual life around them.
In a stimulating living and learning environment surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty, students are challenged and supported to develop the skills and the motivation to contribute positively to their local and global community. They are taught to value kindness, resilience, empathy and compassion, and to carry these attributes with them for life.
Our passionate and highly professional staff are committed to supporting each student’s individual learning, growth, and journey towards independence.
Thank you for considering a Frensham Schools education for your child.

Our
Difference
Frensham inspires students to be critical, ethical and flexible thinkers, equipped to be future leaders in a complex and rapidly changing world.
Our vision for learning goes beyond traditional academic outcomes, and it is driven by the joy of discovering and growing rather than external results.
Everything we do is designed to equip students with the skills and the mindset to explore and question, to ignite a deep, intrinsic curiosity in them so they may forge their own path.
Small Schools, Personalised Learning
With a Senior School of just over 350 students and a Junior School of around 150, we prioritise getting to know every student, and their family, personally. At Frensham, we provide a focused, individualised experience, where every student is known and nurtured.
The Jamieson Program
The Jamieson Program at Frensham Schools encourages critical thinking, creativity, courage, and collaboration, helping students develop the skills to address global challenges. The program allows students to engage in outdoor adventure, personal development, and community service, building resilience and ‘grit.’ These experiences equip students to make meaningful contributions to the world.
Frensham is dedicated to character education, fostering a sense of belonging and personal responsibility. The School’s focus on moral, performance, and civic character ensures that students not only reach their full potential but also contribute positively to society. Through this approach, Frensham aims to help students navigate life with a strong ethical foundation and a sense of purpose.
Frensham Junior School provides students with opportunities to build leadership and resilience. Year 6 students take on Monitor Roles, plan events, and mentor younger students through the Buddy Program. Outdoor education, including the Junior Duke Program, encourages independent exploration and community service. Through these experiences, students develop essential life skills, a sense of belonging, and the ability to contribute to the wider community.
Green space
Frensham Schools is situated on 300 acres of pristine bushland with expansive green spaces that offer students a unique connection to the natural world. These green spaces provide students with the opportunity to experience firsthand the importance of environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and sustainability.
The Upper and Lower Holt areas of the Frensham campus provide a dynamic space for environmental stewardship and recreational activities. Students spend extended periods in the Holt, engaging in caring for the bushland, running, walking, reflecting, and farming. This space also houses impressive sporting facilities, blending recreation with a deep sense of environmental responsibility.
Frensham Junior School, designated as a Land for Wildlife site by the Wingecarribee Shire Council and part of the Community Environment Network, spans 10 acres where students from Preschool to Year 6 actively care for the local habitat and native animals. Through partnerships with local Aboriginal and Landcare groups, students are helping regenerate native flora and fauna, including planting trees for the ‘Glossies in the Mist’ project to support endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos, creating an Aboriginal Bush Tucker Garden, and installing microbat and bird nesting boxes.
Our
Approach
Frensham Schools is renowned for its enduring ‘values-in-action’ learning and living environment.
We encourage students to actively shape their learning, fostering self-motivation, resilience, and a sense of ownership as they explore the world around them. Our goal is clear: to prepare students to excel academically and step forward confidently to serve others and make a meaningful impact on their community.
The timeless ideals of our founder, Winifred West, remain relevant today. Our mission and values are embedded in everything we do, guiding daily interactions, operational thinking, and strategic planning.
What should be the aim of education? Probably no two people here would give the same answer to the question and many would differ widely. All would probably agree that education should be a preparation for life.
Community & Connection
We envision a community where each student is encouraged to explore and develop their unique potential, cultivating not only academic and creative talents, but also the virtues of integrity, adaptability, and service.
By providing a nurturing, non-competitive environment, we aim to empower our students to become resilient, compassionate individuals who bring joy, beauty, and positive change to the world around them.
Our community fosters long-lasting friendships, a strong parent network, and a deep sense of connectedness.
The Unselfish Pursuit of Excellence
We aim to inspire a love of learning and personal growth in every student. Our goal is to create an environment where each student can thrive—not for the sake of winning, but for the satisfaction of achieving their personal best and contributing to something bigger than themselves. We encourage students to strive for excellence in everything they do, whether it’s in the classroom, on the stage, in the arts, or through service to others.
“A mosaic is made up of insignificant pieces of coloured marble or stone, not strikingly beautiful in themselves but so arranged that a wonderful pattern may result. The complete beauty of the whole depends on the perfection of each part and its relation to other parts. Each piece needs the surrounding pieces to show it up in its full beauty. The part and the whole are interdependent. So it is not by self-assertion but by co-ordination, by working humbly, unselfishly and harmoniously with others that we can add to the beauty of life.”
Winifred West 1919
Our Culture
Frensham School’s culture is founded on the belief that true achievement is not measured by trophies or rankings, but by the quiet, steadfast commitment to personal growth and service. We do not engage in traditional competition, such as House rivalries or subject-based prizes, as we believe these detract from the love of learning and the spirit of collaboration we value so deeply.
We celebrate our unique approach to celebrating achievement. Our students feel joy in their accomplishments, knowing they have done their best—not because they have won a prize, but because they have grown, contributed, and made a difference.
